One day during the summer of 2008, Donald Effler stopped In the RIHS Visitor Center kiosk.
He told the staff “My father was born in the Blackwell Mansion.” He subsequently has donated
the original photo album of his parents and grandparents (relatives and friends too) to the
RIHS Archives.
This is a wonderful collection of photos from a young couple in love and kissing on the rocks
off the island coast, proud new parents, to a 4 year old boy dressed up as a soldier like his
father was during World War I.
We thank the Effler family for their sharing their roots with the newer Island Family.
